We blend traditional tools and carpentry techniques with modern conservation methodology.

He set up Breakspear Conservation in 2014 to focus on repair works to historic buildings with a particular passion for wind and watermills.

In 2022 Louis achieved full membership status of the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC).

Louis is a 2023 QEST (Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust) scholar and with the help of their generous support (and that of the Benefact Trust & York Conservation & Craft Consortium) is currently studying a Masters degree in Timber Building conservation at the Weald and Downland Museum.

Louis is a member of the ICOMOS UK wood committee.

Based in Hertfordshire UK and serving the surrounding counties, Breakspear Conservation Limited have carried out repair works in the UK and abroad for organisations such as The National Trust, Canal and River Trust, Palace of Westminster, Parochial Church Councils, building preservation trusts and private clients.

Director Louis Curtis began training as a carpenter and joiner in 2006. From 2011-13 he studied at the Building Craft College and Kingston University, achieving a 1st class degree in Historic Building Conservation.
